Summer Goals

Every summer I set a couple goals for myself, and I finally had the
to complete one of them!
A Long Distance Kayak on the Manistee River
My typical paddles are between 10-15 miles, taking me about 2-3 hours.
So my long distance goals usually tend to stretch my limits a little, and this paddle certainly met my limits; 31 miles/7 hours on the river, Baxter Bridge to Mesick Rotary Park
My ultimate favorite section of the Manistee River is Baxter Bridge to Harvey Bridge, about a 20 mile/4 hour paddle. During this section you paddle between high banks filled with Pines, hardwoods and sand dunes, which makes for a fabulous fall color tour!
You will also catch glimpes of Eagle, Blue Herons, turtles, and, if you're quiet and lucky, deer and muskrats, raccoons, mink and otter. Which I have had the pleasure of spotting during paddles.
Enjoy content I created showcasing my day and the beauty of the Manistee River
