A Hidden Gem

As with most small towns, there are trails and outdoor experiences that are lesser known, or maybe, not visited as much, and the Mackenzie Trail is one of them, at least in the non-winter months.

Mackenzie Trail is a four season trail here in Northern Michigan; XC Skiing in the snow months, and open to hiking and biking in the warmer months.

Mackenzie Trail is maintained by a non-profit organization, The Friends of Mackenzie Trail, and the Federal Forest Service.

You will find an outhouse, a picnic table and kiosk with the map, at the trailhead, which is located on 38 mile road, just 1mile west of Caberfae Peaks Ski Resort, West of Cadillac, Michigan.

You can learn more about the Mackenzie Trail, and how to become more involved in volunteering at www.mackenzietrail.org and on FB "Friends of the MacKenzie Trail

I sat down with Sam Hogg to discuss the future of the Mackenzie Trails.
